P.Wilkinson Containers and William Say & Co. have scooped the coveted Metal Pack of the Year: Decorative & General Line at the UK Packaging Awards 2025, thanks to their groundbreaking collaboration with premium chocolate drinks brand, Knoops.
The award celebrates a first-of-its-kind, digitally printed, refillable tin that blends luxury, practicality, and sustainability in one striking design. This innovative pack not only elevates the Knoops brand experience but also sets a new benchmark for creative, eco-conscious packaging.
Crafted in a sleek matte black finish and adorned with subtle geometric patterns, the cylindrical tin uses pioneering digital printing techniques to replicate the look of traditional embossing – without the need for tooling. This breakthrough approach delivers a premium aesthetic while enabling faster, more flexible production, proving that sustainability and style can go hand in hand.
Made at William Say’s solar-powered London factory, the airtight tin is designed to be both reusable and refillable, keeping Knoops’ signature chocolate flakes fresh while offering consumers a stylish, long-lasting container that enhances everyday rituals.
Stuart Wilkinson, Sales and Marketing Director at William Say & Co., comments:
“We are incredibly proud to have won this award with Knoops. This project reflects not only the creativity and craftsmanship of British metal packaging, but also the importance of pushing boundaries in design and production. By combining pioneering digital print with a strong commitment to sustainability, we’ve been able to deliver packaging that’s as functional as it is beautiful.”
The win with Knoops highlights P Wilkinson Containers and William Say’s role as industry leaders in innovative metal packaging, building on their long history of championing both tradition and technology in the sector.
The award was presented at the UK Packaging Awards ceremony on 8 October 2025 at the Hilton Park Lane, London, celebrating the very best in packaging design and manufacturing across the UK.
Stuart adds:
“We’d like to thank the Knoops team for their vision and trust in this project, and our colleagues for the skill and dedication that brought it to life. To be recognised by the industry at such a prestigious event is a real honour and a moment of pride for the entire team.”
This latest win builds on P. Wilkinson Containers and William Say’s earlier success with their collaboration between Liberty London and Farrow & Ball in 2022, which earned them the prestigious Metal Pack of the Year award from the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association. The limited-edition sample tins featured six iconic Liberty heritage prints and were digitally printed with precision colour matching, showcasing the pinnacle of metal packaging innovation. The tins combined exquisite design with sustainable manufacturing, further cementing the company’s reputation for excellence in both creativity and craftsmanship.
