How P Wilkinson Containers supports manufacturers during economic turbulence

Stuart Wilkinson, Marketing Director, looks at how a packaging stockist can support manufacturers during pressurised economic times.

There’s no doubt that the last few years have been more than economically turbulent not just for manufacturers but indeed the UK economy.

In March, growth figures from the Office for National Statistics said that national output as measured by gross domestic product rose by 0.2% in the first month of 2024, largely as result of a sharp recovery in retail sales after the latter half of 2023.  But warned against reading too much into one month’s uplift.

As such, manufacturers are having to ride a financial roller coaster, making it hard to predict future stock needs. This is where P Wilkinson Containers can really help with managing cash flow.

As a stockist with a vast catalogue of packaging options, our customers can order the exact amount of packaging they need rather than purchasing large runs in one go which they may or may not be able to afford at any one time.

With us, orders can start with just one or two pallets of units rather than a full truckload which may be the case when working directly with packaging manufacturers.

Particularly for start-ups, SMEs and medium firms, we’re able to store both generic and bespoke packaging formats within our warehouse saving our customers space on their own sites and reducing the need to occupy larger premises, avoiding the heightened running costs this incurs.

For example, we’ve had a long-standing relationship with Court Lodge Organic Farm which produces a range of yoghurts in 250ml and 500ml variations. We supply lightweight, durable PET bottles which are fully recyclable. We also offer the ability to label each bottle at our Bermondsey site.

We’re able to hold Court Lodge’s bespoke packaging onsite, delivering units to the farm’s production facility when needed, helping the company to respond to product demand and streamline its manufacturing processes.

Customers are confident that when they place an order for stock, it will be reliably delivered to them in a timely manner utilising our own logistics fleet and therefore avoiding any production downtime.

Economic fluctuations are stressful at the best of times, but many manufacturers, large or small, can relieve some of that burden by working with a packaging stockist, such as P Wilkinson Containers. To see how P Wilkinson Containers can help you, speak to our team via sales@pwcon.co.uk.
