Wilkinson Containers and William Say has been shortlisted for the UK Packaging Awards 2024 in the ‘Metal Pack of the Year: Decorative & General Line’ category for its work with the Dorchester Hotel on a special Christmas cake tin project. The Dorchester Collection, the extension of the Dorchester Hotel brand, sought a high-quality, exclusive packaging solution for its Christmas cakes, designed as a memorable keepsake for guests.
Brimming with the festive flavours of brandy-soaked vine fruits, almonds, and cherries, the Dorchester’s traditional Christmas fruit cake is a rich, indulgent treat. This 1kg fruit cake is available in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions and can be pre-ordered direct from the Dorchester Collection website; the cakes will be delivered from November 1.
William Say created bespoke hand-embossed tins, proudly manufactured in the UK using solar energy. The tins feature the Metal Recycles Forever logo on its base, highlighting the infinite recyclability of metal.
The lids are embossed with the iconic Dorchester crest, while the tin bodies display the letters “DORCH.” Each tin was printed on a state-of-the-art litho press, matched precisely to the hotel’s specified Pantone colour.
“Every aspect of the project, from design to manufacturing, was completed in London, with the tins produced at our Bermondsey factory—just a short distance from their final retail destination at the prestigious Dorchester Hotel,” comments Stuart Wilkinson, Marketing and Sale Director at P. Wilkinson Containers and William Say.
Stay tuned for the UK Packaging Awards’ official verdict on 10 October 2024!
